Description this is an awesome rare old handmade german leighton style transitional marble with a delicate color combo of lavender and frosty white wrapped horizontally around the surface. Excellent condition this marble grades out at a 9 8. One very rare unique early multi colored leighton oxblood transitional handmade vintage marble with a clear base glass with four colors mixed in which are rare oxblood egg yolk yellow opaque white a rare unusual unique smokey transparent amethyst purple sitting over the top of the colors nearer to the surface giving it a amethyst base apperence but inside the nine pattern on the top. Hand made glass marbles were invented in lauscha germany in the late 1840s.

It measures approx 27 32 850. Leighton counselled against the reproduction as the marble is less able to hold its own weight but eventually acquiesced and adapted the composition adding supports for the legs. Marbles 5 8 vintage cac christensen single seam cobalt guinea marble. It features a field crotch mahogany with a solid mahogany ogee shaped edge it has a hand rubbed and polished semigloss finish.

Single faceted pontil surface is original condition not polished or buffed. 1 case approx 24 pounds of jabo aces 2008 approx. The four legs are classic ball and claw chippendale styling. This early example has a fantastic vibrant 9 pattern of rich red oxblood electric egg yolk yellow and opaque white swirled on a transparent green base. Most commonly they are about 13 mm 1 2 in in diameter but they may range from less than 1 mm 1 30 in to over 8 cm 3 in while some art glass marbles for display purposes are over 30 cm 12 in wide.
